About Us

Rev. Andy O’Dowd

A native of New Jersey and the oldest of eight children, Rev. O’Dowd comes to ordained ministry in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) following a 15 year career as a Russian Interpreter in the U.S. Air Force. He holds an Associate’s degree in Interpreting & Translating, a B.S. in Human Resource Management and an MDiv. He has served churches in Iowa, Minnesota, and Missouri. Andy has led workshops on a variety of subjects for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Andy is certified as a counselor and trainer of counselors with the PREPARE/ENRICH family of counseling tools. He is also a trained facilitator and consultant for the Healthy Congregations Program.

Andy is active in community affairs and in the local presbytery and synod. His many hobbies include: painting (a gallery of some of his paintings is linked to this website), writing, golf, and woodworking. His joy in life is the Lord and the family God has blessed him with. Andy has been married to Rachel for 34 years and they have two sons; Todd and Alex.

Rachel O’Dowd

Also a native of New Jersey, Rachel has had a ministry that in many ways equals and outpaces her husband’s. She is an ordained Elder and Deacon of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and has served the church as moderator of the denomination’s Small Church Network. She too has led a variety of workshops for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Rachel has served local presbyteries in Alaska, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Missouri in a variety of roles. She is a past moderator of the Presbytery of Missouri River Valley (Omaha, NE and surrounding area). Rachel served as Commissioned Lay Pastor for four years at a church in Minnesota and has provided pulpit supply for many churches in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri. Rachel is qualified as a counselor with the PREPARE/ENRICH family of counseling tools.

Rachel is a life-long child of God and a Presbyterian. Now 100% disabled by several health issues, Rachel still gets around. Her hobbies still include: quilting, painting, and writing. She has been married to Andy for 34 years and they have two sons; Todd and Alex, and a loving Dachshund named Lyla
